About the Event
During this walk through Widgeon Point Preserve you'll experience maritime forest, salt marsh, and brackish lagoons. You'll talk about the plants that live in the preserve, bird watch, and explore Beaufort County's newest passive park. The preserve is 162 acres with a ~3/4 mile walking loop. Located on Lemon Island, off Hwy 170, the preserve is co-owned by Beaufort County and the Beaufort County Open Land Trust.
Wear comfortable walking shoes, dress for the weather, and bring binoculars/water. There are port-a-potty facilities available at the preserve. Trash is pack in pack out. The Port Royal Sound Foundation Maritime Center is located nearby and would be a great spot to check out after the program.
You'll be guided by Jill Moore, of Moore to Life nature excursions. Jill is an educator, fellow Master Naturalist, and nature guide.
