About the Event
Participants will discover how, once wastewater is treated to near drinking-water standards, a portion of it is discharged into The Great Swamp in the New River area. BJWSA monitors water quality, plants and aquatic life in the Great Swamp to ensure conservation of wetland habitat while recycling reclaimed water. Participants will see first-hand the treatment process, including the clarifiers and sedimentation basins, and take a peak inside the lab where wastewater operators monitor the facility 24/7.
Jeff La Rue started his career in utility communications in 1997 after working in broadcast news and politics. Having served all utility sectors (water wastewater, storm water, natural gas & electric) his work has focused on water and wastewater. Over nearly 30 years of consulting, he has lead strategic communications and community relations initiatives for more than 33 water and 14 wastewater systems in the southeast and midwestern U.S. He started working with BJWSA in February…
