About the Event
Join fellow Master Naturalists Peggy Willenberg (2010) and Chris Crossley (2011) to learn more about everyone's favorite marine reptile, the sea turtle! Join in on morning sea turtle patrol, and if a nest is found, observe the process of assessing and documenting the nest.
Meet at the Hunting Island Lighthouse. There is an $8 fee to enter the park at the gate if you do not have a seasonal pass. Dress for the weather and walking on the beach, and bring a bottle of water.
Peggy is a teaching naturalist at the Raptor Center, the U of MN, and Hennepin Parks System. This is her 12th season with Hunting Island Turtle Patrol. She is also a MN and Master Gardener. Dr. Chris Crossley was a small animal veterinarian in St. Louis, MI for 25 years and has been the director of the Friends of Hunting Island Sea Turtle conservation project since 2013.
