About the Event
the Guide for this trip, Destiney Rains, joined Beaufort County in 2023 and is currently the Land Preservation Department Naturalist. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of South Carolina Beaufort. Previously, she worked with the Coastal Discovery Museum and Kiawah Island. At Beaufort County, Destiney creates and provides environmental education programming opportunities to the public on the County’s passive parks, as well as for schools and private groups. Currently, Destiney is offering diverse, and free, programming including trail talks, birding, fish clinics, and talks on herps and pollinators.
Walk the half mile loop trail and enjoy the diverse ecosystem of Crystal Lake Park. Afterwards, join us inside to view the nature center exhibits and native animal ambassadors.
What should participants bring with them?: binoculars, bug spray, water bottle, snacks and dress for the weather of the day
