About the Event

Join Margit Resch a Beaufort resident since 1993 and expert beach comber as she shares her shell collection and knowledge of 3+ decades. Margit is a fellow Master Naturalist graduate from 2012 and has spent time in schools and universities sharing her beach ecology knowledge. Did you know that there are some 750 species of animals that live on SC beaches? During this LCMNA Advanced Training, we'll learn about the species we're lucky enough to find. Some potential encounters could include the SC state shell and other mollusks, crustaceans, horseshoe crabs and real crabs, sand dollars and related echinoderms, worms, and more. You'll learn about how they eat, move, grow, keep safe, and procreate, and after about 45 minutes, you'll head out to the beach to find treasures. This training is scheduled during a negative low tide to provide the best chance of finding something!
