About the Event
Did you know that there are some 750 species of animals that live on SC beaches? During this LCMNA Advanced Training, we'll learn about the species we're lucky enough to find. Some potential encounters could include the SC state shell and other mollusks, crustaceans, horse shoe crabs and real crabs, sand dollars and related echinoderms, worms, and more. This program will begin at the picnic tables near the Hunting Island Light House, where Margit will introduce you to some of the critters you may expect to see ont he beach. You'll learn about how they eat, move, grow, keep safe, and procreate, and after about thirty minutes, you'll head out to the beach to find treasures.
This program will take place entirely outdoors. Come prepared with water and sun protection, and please feel free to bring a bag to collect items.
There is an entrance fee to the Hunting Island State Park - $8 per person. If you're unsure how to get to the lighthouse, the Gate Attendant will be able to let you know how to get there.
